March 2010 Featured Couple - Pavel & Daphne
[Love Story]
Through the virtual reality environment, Pavel & Daphne got acquainted. Their interest in gaming strengthened their friendship and eventually, Daphne took the initiative to meet up with Pavel, of Russian descent, at Sydney, Australia, where he was working and residing.
And after weeks of dating, this lovely couple became an item and began their semi-long distance courtship for the next 3 years!
On the 22nd August 2008, Pavel roped in the help of Daphne’s girlfriends to surprise her with his visit to Singapore and more memorably, his proposal! Dressed to charm with his suit and a pretty bouquet of flowers, Pavel then got down on his knee and popped the question with a platter of strawberries with the proposal ring at a restaurant. A nervous yet elated Daphne agreed to marry him!

Unlike most couples, they had to prepare for their wedding while Daphne was in Singapore, and Pavel in Australia. In addition, logistics and accommodation had to be arranged and coordinated for Pavel’s family and relatives to attend their wedding.

For Pavel, it was anything but normal to bask in the local culture of celebrating a couple’s marriage. Having to go through the “gruelling” gate-crashing event, Pavel and his gang of merry men drank and ate to the sisters’ content. It definitely was a memorable event for the expatriates involved.
As for their dinner celebration, the couple decided on a classy theme, consisting of colours like white, pink and gold, complimented with the colonial façade and interiors of Goodwood Park Hotel. Aided by the pro-active team behind Coffee & Tea Dreamworks, Pavel and Daphne could naturally bask in their thematic matrimonal joy without much hassle and stress!
